Camelback Ventures Launches Entrepreneurship Is... Campaign

A NOTE FROM CAMELBACK'S CEO + FOUNDER

Dear Friends and Supporters.

As we enter Black History Month, I am thinking of the march during the Civil Rights Movement from Selma to Montgomery. It took three times before the group of everyday Americans were able to cross the Edmund Pettus Bridge, make it past troopers ready to terrorize and brutalize them, and make the 54-mile trek. Most of us only know of Bloody Sunday. That was only the first effort to complete the journey.

These marchers exemplify what an entrepreneur is. They were a group of people with a vision; they were undeterred when they were told to turn back; they had to pivot in a matter of days; they were a team of people who had some disagreements behind the scenes, but spoke with one voice in public. And like the entrepreneurs that Camelback supports they were doing it to build a legacy, to create a world that their children could inherit that was better than the one received.

This month, not only are we kicking off our 10th Camelback Fellowship cohort, we are celebrating the 130+ Fellows who came before them and the countless others from generations past.

With grace,

Aaron

THE POWER OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP

From boosting economic growth in undervalued communities by creating job opportunities to developing innovations that can help save lives - Camelback Ventures is proud to support BIPOC, women, and nonbinary entrepreneurs across the country leading social impact ventures.

These founders lean into this challenging and often lonely journey guided by their 'north stars'. Camelback is excited to launch a yearlong "Entrepreneurship Is..." campaign to share the motivational stories of what propels Camelback Fellows to turn their dreams into reality and persevere in the face of adversity with the unwavering commitment to uplift the communities they passionately serve.

BUILDING OUR LEGACY

Our campaign launches on February 1, 2023 in celebration of Black History Month with an insightful panel highlighting the work and journeys of several Camelback Fellows who embody what it means to build legacy in education for the #NextInLine.

You can watch the replay of the Entrepreneurship Is…Black Leaders in Education Building Legacy panel by subscribing to Camelback’s YouTube channel to stay in the know!

Guardianship is a focal point of legacy building. To learn more about becoming a Guardian, consider attending or becoming a sponsor of Camelback’s 2023 Guardian Summit.

RACIAL EQUITY IN PHILANTHROPY

To move towards building more equitable systems, we must also be willing to take a deep look at our history. The value of knowing your history is like a bow and arrow, you must pull back to be able to spring forward. We must pull back and really acknowledge the ways different groups of people have historically been (and continue to be) marginalized, in order to spring forward and build a future that centers the liberation of us all.

The Capital Collaborative by Camelback Ventures calls on funders and grant makers to work towards racial equity in philanthropy in order to move more capital towards BIPOC and women-led organizations. Join us, we’re now recruiting for the 2023 Capital Collaborative.
